Return of the Kindle User

broken

As you may have spotted, the last time I posted on this blog was back in February. Because of a number of factors: work commitments, family commitments and pure laziness I just haven’t been able to keep this blog up to date. But now I find myself in the strange position of having to replace my old Kindle keyboard after the screen display suddenly developed strange horizontal patterns making it unreadable. I rang up the nice people at Amazon to see if I could get a replacement, but because my Kindle was out of warranty, the best they could do was to offer me a 10% discount on a new model, which was fair enough, I suppose.

At the time, I knew that Amazon were likely to be releasing a number of new models, not least the Kindle Fire, so I decided to weigh my options and wait a few weeks before replacing my Kindle. This is what has really brought me back to blogging-doing a web search for Kindle reviews frequently brought me back to this site, which is a bit embarrassing really, given the lack of new content. So I thought I’d share my search for a new Kindle with you and at the same time update the information on this site.

It may well be that I come to the conclusion that I can manage perfectly well reading on my laptop and phone using the Kindle apps, as I have been doing for the last few weeks. But having been away for a few weeks walking in the English Lake District, I must admit that I felt jealous of my wife Jo’s Kindle ownership as she could get in a few minutes read as we stopped for a break. This is her yesterday at Easdale Tarn, above Grasmere (where Wordsworth’s cottage is situated.)
